A selfie at the Cologne Christmas Market, Germany

Driving home for Christmas and heading to South America

Big news – we’ve just booked flights to Colombia in January! As I write this we’re on the ferry back to the UK to celebrate the festive season with family before we begin our 2018 adventures. Driving home for Christmas has taken us to the supreme Cologne xmas markets and to Bruges, which may well be the most beautiful European city we’ve visited to date. Here’s the lowdown on our festive journey and South American plans. Continue reading

Andrew and I at a wedding in Hereford this summer

Lacking inspiration and leaving the UK

It’s only now, when we’re just about to set off on a new adventure, that I’ve felt inspired to sit down and write. Amongst all the recent summer house sits, family get-togethers and work, I somehow lost my will to write. Now the car is ready to be packed, there’s a map with a route through Europe etched in our heads and I’m ready to face the road, and the blank page, once again. Continue reading

Cruise down the Thames and see sights like Tower Bridge

Top 10 things to do whilst visiting London

I’ve been in love with London for as long as I can remember. Living and working in the city for four years didn’t dull my love for the Big Smoke and neither has travelling the world. Despite visiting and even living in some epic cities like Melbourne, Prague, Hanoi and Chiang Mai, London remains my favourite. With that in mind, let me share 10 of my top things to do when visiting London. Continue reading

Andrew and I hiking Snowdon in Wales

Life update: Hiking Snowdon, Wales and Weddings

From Welsh weddings to hiking Snowdon and house sitting all around London, these past two months in the UK have been crammed with activity. Between family visits and zipping around the country we’ve definitely dropped the ball with work, blogging and planning for our upcoming Europe trip. So, as we start to pull ourselves together again, here’s a look back at our hectic summer adventures in the UK. Continue reading

Snout and Crackling, pet pigs we looked after in London

Pigs, Portugal, house sits and veganism

It’s six am and a cat is prodding me. Now, I can hear the dogs rucking around downstairs followed by the insistent snorting of pigs in the garden. Yes, pigs. Welcome to our first London house sit of the summer! We’ve taken up temporary residence in a beautiful, leafy part of west London that we’d never in a million years be able to afford to really live in. Have I mentioned how much we love house sitting? Continue reading

Our new wheels, Alma, the Nissan Almera

Back to the island, new wheels and travel plans

Hello from a very uncharacteristically warm UK! In fact, news channels have been declaring that we’re in the midst of a heat wave (or at least we were last week when I drafted this post). As always, it’s good to return to The Island for our annual summer visit, but future travels are never far from our minds. So, what are our plans for the rest of the year? Continue reading

From London to Spain: Fears, Life Changes and Goals for the New Year

For me, a new year always brings with it a lot of reflection. While 2016 is full of promise: an exciting new life in Spain, a chance to travel in mainland Europe and explore new work opportunities, lately I’ve also been battling with some serious fears and worries about the future. We’ve spent the last few weeks cat sitting in London and while being back in my favourite city and catching up with friends has been wonderful, our time here has also brought a lot of doubts and dark feelings to the surface. Continue reading

Our Sapa Selfie

2015 Travel Round-up

2015 has been a year of two very different halves for us; the first spent in Asia, the second in America and the UK. We lived in Vietnam’s crazy capital city, Hanoi, where we saved over £14,000 (and nearly lost our minds!) by teaching English. We relaxed on beaches in Thailand, house sat in London, toured South Wales and took the best road trip ever through New England in the USA. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas in Blighty for the first time in nearly three years, here’s our 2015 travel round-up. Continue reading

Cat Sitting in London

Time has been moving at a frightening speed of late, especially since we landed in London and slipped straight back into the frantic pace of life here. This last week has been one furious blur of sightseeing, pounding the glorious streets of the capital and catching up with people. We’ve also seen a different side of the city by exploring with a child in tow and house and cat sitting in an unfamiliar area. Continue reading
