Our USA Travel Video

Even though we’re now in Spain, getting ready to move to Madrid next week, it seems like just yesterday that we were whizzing down leafy roads in New England, country music playing on the stereo of our rental car. The three months that we spent travelling on the east coast of the USA made for one of my favourite travel experiences to date. I was so happy in New England, particularly in Vermont, that I often ache to be back there. Whilst reminiscing, we’ve put together this short USA travel video of our trip highlights.

Our USA Travel Video

We spent most of our time travelling in the USA by car, exploring New England and visiting mighty Niagara Falls. We hiked in national parks, kayaked, saw some spectacular foliage and fell in love with this area of the country. Our trip started in Boston and took us through New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont and Maine via mountains, countryside, forests and craggy coast lines. Our New England highlight was definitely Vermont, a beautiful state with an independent, earthy-feel to it, full of farms and delicious home-grown food. We also had a blast celebrating Halloween, taking a Stephen King Tour and hiking in Acadia National Park in Maine.

*Update: you can read our complete 2016 New England Fall Foliage Guide here. This includes tips on where on when to see the best foliage, what to eat, which festivals to visit, how much our fall trip to New England cost and our favourite destinations in New England.*

Cape Cod Headlight, Massachusetts

During the last month of our trip we bussed down to Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York City. We learnt a lot about American history during our trip, walking the freedom trail in Boston, visiting Independence National Historic Park in Philly and many historical monuments and museums in DC and NYC. We were also lucky enough to stay with Andrew’s relatives in Brooklyn over Thanksgiving and made an emotional visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.

We found travel costs in America pretty reasonable and spent less than £7,000 during our three-month trip; gas prices were incredibly cheap and we saved a lot of money by using Airbnb for accommodation. We can’t wait to return to the USA and are hoping to take another trip, this time to the west coast of the country, in late 2017. In the meantime, here are our USA video highlights:

Not only did I like the video, I loved the music. We’re planning to head up to New England in the fall.

When you’re ready to explore the west coast, in 2017, touch base with me. I can suggest some of the best “don’t miss” destinations. Good luck with settling in Madrid.

Thanks Patti, you will love New England, I wish I could go back this fall too. I will definitely get your recommendations for the west coast, we’re hoping to get there in autumn 2017.

Very nice Amy and great editing. This video shows that there is a vuriety of things to see and do in the USA.I know alot of people who have been to the USA and only visited the cities and it isn’t because they dislike nature either. Most of these people think that USA is Los vegas, and New York.Your video has shown us there is alot more to the USA than the cities.Look at the beautiful national parks that you have visited in the USA.Well Done Amy and Andrew, love louisa

‘Loved the road movie guy and the fact that you really went to a wide variety of places. I’ve not yet been to New England or the East Coast but I sure do need to now!
I’ve only been to the West Coast but I can imagine that New England would be more a taste of home. And I like their accents lol!
    ‘Lovely!

The accents are pretty cool! We loved the culture and scenery in New England, I’m sure it’s very different to other parts of the country but we need to explore more to find out 🙂
